Fellow 2026-2027 Franklin Ginn
Franklin is an Associate Professor in Cultural Geography at the University of Bristol, UK. He was a Lecturer in Human Geography at the University of Edinburgh from 2011 to 2015, and a Rachel Carson Centre Fellow in 2016.
His research interests centre on humanities approaches to environmental challenges, critical plant studies, and philosophical questions concerning the nonhuman. Recent research projects have included soil cultures in the Himalayas, plant cultures in Pakistan, and the future of plants in space exploration. Franklin was Co-Editor of Environmental Humanities (2020–2026), and is the author of Domestic Wild: Memory, Nature and Gardening in Suburbia, The Work That Plants Do: Life, Labour and the Future of Vegetal Economies, and A Cultural History of Nature.
