Fellow 2025-2026 Jyhene Kebsi
Dr. Jyhene Kebsi is an Assistant Professor of Gender Studies at Macquarie University, Australia. She specializes in refugee literature and cinema, particularly the narratives of Arab female paperless asylum seekers and forced immigrants. Her research and teaching sit at the intersection of Arab Gender Studies and Refugee Literary and Film Studies.

Undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers are the focus of her book-in-progress, which is under contract with the University of Texas Press. Dr. Kebsi’s scholarly work has appeared in The Journal of North African Studies, Journal of World Literature, The Journal of Global Postcolonial Studies, Postcolonial Text, Law & Literature, Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies, and Antipodes: A Global Journal of Australian/New Zealand Literature. Her op-eds and poems have appeared in The Conversation, The New Arab, Berkeley Forum, Overland, Arena, and En-Gender.
