Marcel Kückelhaus works in the Science Communication department at CAPAS.

After studying German and English Literature and Linguistics in Heidelberg and Rennes (France), Marcel Kückelhaus earned his PhD at Heidelberg University. His dissertation, Menschliche Künstliche Intelligenz (Human Artificial Intelligence), examines the linguistic construction of AI in journalistic discourse and highlights how defining AI inherently involves defining the human.
During his PhD, Marcel refined his ability to communicate scientific knowledge to a broader audience. As a correspondent for studieren weltweit, he adapted linguistic content for non-specialist readers and deepened his interest in science communication as a fellow of the WissKomm-Kolleg of the Toepfer Foundation and Claussen Foundation.
Throughout his academic career, Marcel has worked in an interdisciplinary manner, approaching research questions from multiple perspectives. His dissertation was part of the interdisciplinary project Linguistic Framing of Biological and Artificial Intelligence (FrameIntell), where he collaborated with neuroscientists, medical ethicists, philosophers, psychologists, and computer scientists. In 2023, he was awarded a DAAD scholarship for a research visit at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI), an interdisciplinary research centre exploring AI and its societal implications. His current work at CAPAS builds on this interdisciplinary and collaborative approach, enabling him to bridge gaps between disciplines as well as between science and society.
