Emilian Ortega y Feili specializes in research and lecturing within cultural studies, philosophy of culture, Latin American philosophy and thought, aesthetics, and Hispano-American literature.

He serves as a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Romance Studies at Heidelberg University, contributing to conferences, fostering team collaboration, mentoring junior researchers, and innovating research methodologies since October 2023. Prior to this, he was a DAAD scholarship holder in Heidelberg between November 2019 and October 2023. He also held other academic roles, including as a Research Assistant under Prof. Dr. Dr. Robert Folger from October 2021 to March 2022 and as a Lecturer in Spanish Philology at the Faculty of Romance Studies at Heidelberg University, during multiple terms between April 2019 and March 2021. Emilian Ortega y Feili is pursuing a Ph.D. in Romance Literature and Culture at Heidelberg University under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Dr. Robert Folger. The title of his Ph.D. research is “The Aesthetic Dimension of Culture: On the Foundations of the Aesthetic in a Meta-Dialectical Sense. A Contribution to Bolívar Echeverría’s Aesthetic Theory.”


His international experience includes a research stay at the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2014–2015, during which he worked with Prof. Dr. Rahel Jaeggi. His involvement with academic events spans organizing and participating in numerous workshops, conferences, and colloquiums, with themes ranging from philosophical explorations to cultural critiques in different countries. Highlights include co-organizing workshops on “Democratic Leadership” and “The Frankfurt School and Romania” in Heidelberg and delivering lectures on topics like Bolívar Echeverría's messianic-utopian program and the apocalyptic dimensions in Latin American narratives. His scholarly contributions focus on a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and fostering dialogue across global academic platforms.
