CAPAS at the NEW NOW Festival 2021

An interactive video production by CAPAS, which was created as part of the NEW NOW Festival for Digital Arts 2021 on the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zeche Zollverein, deals with the tension between the end and the beginning of historical epochs.

In dialogue with international artists, CAPAS researchers open up new perspectives on moments of social upheaval and the apocalyptic visions associated with them. They illuminate the ambivalent role of coal production, which on the one hand symbolizes technical progress and local prosperity, but at the same time stands for global dependence on fossil raw materials.
