Research Area 2Historical experiences of the (post-)apocalypse

The Research Area deals with historically observable apocalyptic experiences and their aftermath from prehistory to the near past.

The topical scope of this Research Area is based on the scope of the end of the world (global-ecological, social, individual), which is also the basis of Research Area 3 - Apocalypses of the Present. By incorporating real apocalyptic events into the archive and posing the question of how this archive helped to cope with the apocalypse or was a factor in its demise, the investigations dovetail with Research Area 1.
