Apocalyptic Cinema: Migration and Borders The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025, OmU - English subtitles)

Beyond political debates and financial costs, what does “the apocalypse” mean for those actually fleeing it? The film series Migration and Borders shifts the focus from systems to individual fates, exploring the personal realities of poverty, terror, and displacement.

Movie description

THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB tells the story of the five-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed during a military operation by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. Left entirely to her own devices, she makes a phone call in her desperate situation to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, which attempts to organise her rescue. 

Director Kaouther Ben Hania’s film straddles the line between fiction and documentary. It weaves the original recordings of Rajab’s voice into fictional scenes to bring to life the violence of the experience, the child’s fear and the helplessness of the aid organisation. The film was nominated for an Oscar in the ‘Best International Feature Film’ category in 2026.
